An endurance athlete who has run nearly 100 marathons in his lifetime is in Bath this week as part of an attempt to more than double this total in just 100 days.
Former soldier Mike Buss has been in the city since Monday completing six marathons for the challenge to raise money for Help For Heroes.
The 36-year-old, who has been running the races on a treadmill, will be in the SouthGate shopping area until Saturday before moving onto his other 40 locations throughout the UK.
He said: “I don’t feel like I’m running on a treadmill but just like I’m outdoors.
“I haven’t been in Bath since I was 12 years old and there is a lovely atmosphere here.
“It is very civilised and there are people relaxing on deckchairs in the middle of a shopping centre, which I have never seen anywhere before.”
Mr Buss left the army after being injured by an IRA car bomb and ended up homeless for five months.
He added: “Running has helped me get my life back.”

Meanwhile, a refuse team from Bath has been held up as a national example in a drive to create healthier workplaces. The team from B&NES Council’s Midland Road depot was chosen by the British Heart Foundation as an example of how employers can support staff to get fit and healthier in the workplace.
They will feature in a video on the charity’s website, as well as at conferences across the country.
The recognition comes after the team took part in a Health at Work initiative, run by NHS B&NES and the council.
Staff said they wanted tips on how to care for their backs, due to the weight they have to lift on a daily basis.
They also highlighted giving up smoking and eating more healthily as areas of interest.
The team took part in stop smoking session to help them kick the habit, and were shown how to prepare healthy meals.
To improve fitness they held a five-a-side football tournament, and were given a range of back care treatments.
